Business Planning The decision to start a business is a significant one that is quickly followed by equally significant questions: What type of business? What business structure is advantageous to my venture? What makes an effective business plan? Where will the financing come from? What licenses, permits and registrations are required by the District government?

This online guide helps you take the next step toward business ownership. It walks you through the process—from deciding your company’s legal structure, to developing a business and marketing plan, to registering your business in DC.

There’s plenty of business out there, people who need your services, so help us find them for you.  We are working on creating 4×6 cards that we will use to help each other prospect.  Join this effort and watch your business grow, even around the holidays. Wednesday’s meeting will be held at the Emory Beacon of Ligfht, 6128 Georgia Avenue (Georgia and Rittenhouse) at 9:00 AM

The meeting of December 3, we will join a free breakfast meeting downtown, the details are below.  Please register and join us to learn about financing options.

BusinessPremier: Financing Your Small Business During A Credit Crunch

Our national economy has changed drastically within the course of the last few months significantly effecting global and local markets. This is particularly impacting to small businesses and entrepreneurs in need of outside sources of financing to establish or expand their operations. Though personal savings and family investment do serve as options, the majority of all start-ups and existing businesses use credit-based products (credit cards, bank and home equity loans, etc.) as their primary financing tools. Join us as we discuss how to expand during a credit crunch, strategies to be best positioned for business loans, and conventional and non-conventional loan programs available to small businesses.

Speakers include:

  • Mark Lobato – Vice President / Regional Manager, Business Banking, Chevy Chase Bank
  • Davey Wiggs – Lead Lender Relations Specialist, Small Business Administration, DC Office
  • Timothy Flanagan – Loan and Technical Assistance Manager, Washington Area Community Investment Fund
